Local business woman and styling icon Leila Gregory has joined forces with Baroness Cathy Bakewell, to bring the style and sophistication of a London Vintage Market to our beautiful Somerset town.
Baroness Bakewell, who is a member of the Yeovil Market Improvement group, was inspired by the vibrant and eclectic markets in Kensington and Covent Garden and therefore wanted to create a destination market with something for everyone in Yeovil.
Baroness Bakewell said, “Visitors will enjoy browsing the assorted array of stalls including the very latest trends in recycled or ‘up-cycled’ furniture, vintage clothes and accessories.”
The market will have a real family focus; children and adults alike will be delighted by specially selected entertainment including storytelling in the ‘Cosy tent’.
The inaugural Yeovil Vintage market will take place on Saturday 31 May in King George Street Yeovil and from then on, it will be held on the fourth Saturday of every month to compliment the thriving and successful Farmers Market.
Chair of Area South Councillor Tony Fife says, “South Somerset District Council is delighted to support this initiative. The introduction of a vintage market to Yeovil will complement our existing weekly and monthly markets and will attract new visitors to the town centre.”
