Arriving at Montacute House for the weekly parkrun on Saturday, the sun was shining and the whole of Montacute Park seemed yellow, filled with buttercups and high-vis jackets.
Jason Scott kept up a 100% record as he crossed the line first in a time of 19m23 – his third first placed finish in three appearances. David Nichols of Stadium Runners finished second in 19m47 ahead of Kameron Ridler’s third in 19m55.
Well done to MV60 runner Richard Pitt of Thames Hare & Hounds who stopped racing Wombles at his home parkrun to finish 6th in 20m11 – but with a superb Age Grading of 79.44% (against the world record for his age group), a new record for our event.
Having had a parkrun tourist from Johannesburg a few weeks ago, the Run Director was thrilled to find that we had someone here from Brazil – the excitement was tempered when it turned out they were actually from “Brizzle” – James Harper of MOTI Run Fitness Triathlon finishing in 22m43.
Of the running ladies, Chrissy Smith broke her duck, finishing as the leading lady for the first time in her tenth parkrun here, crossing the line in 24m57, with Charlotte Preece of Langport Runners second in 25m19 and Amy Hillier was third in a time of 26m16.
Congratulations to Janet Pollard who has been awarded the April parkrunner of the month award, and a free pair of shoes courtesy of Sweatshop – she remains the only runner with a 100% record, having completed all 25 runs to date, and in the last month has lowered her PB on two separate occasions.
