South Somerset Together, the district’s Local Strategic Partnership will hold a health Assembly on Friday 22nd May, 9:00 – 13:00 at Long Sutton Golf Club, in Long Sutton, near Langport.
This is an opportunity to discuss and gather views on how we can promote good health for all and use health and care services effectively, also looking at how and why access and experiences may vary across the district. Experts will lead the debate to discuss how we can all work together to create a sustainable health and social care system for the long term, highlighting both the service provider and patient perspectives.
Key note speakers at this event are experts within the health sector, including representatives from Somerset Healthwatch, Somerset Local Pharmaceutical Committee, Yeovil District Hospital, Crewkerne Medical Centre and Somerset County Council Public Health department.
Presentations will highlight some of the challenges and opportunities facing GPs, hospitals and social care services, the experiences of its service users and new models of service delivery shaping the way in which health and social care is provided in the future.
Interactive sessions will give participants the opportunity to express their views on some of these topics and possible solutions during the event.
Chair of the Strategic Partnership, Councillor Cathy Bakewell, said: “Access to health facilities when it is convenient to them, is key to residents. I am pleased we are able to offer this opportunity to have an informed discussion that could help communities to make positive steps to take this forward for the benefit of all involved”.
