A local food show – The Only Way is Local – is to be held at Haynes International Motor Museum on 17 September 2014. The event will run from 10.30am – 1.30pm.
With just days to go and 40 stall holders booked, the event is gearing up to showcase Somerset’s high quality food and drink producers.
Presented by South Somerset District Council with the backing of European funding (Interreg 2 Seas Fish & Chips project), the food show is promoting local food and drink producers to a wider consumer market, helping them to make business connections and increase their sales and market reach.
The free event is open to anyone with an interest in local food and drink. SSDC is particularly keen to attract local traders in food and drink to the show – from hotels and restaurants, cafés and B&Bs, farm shops and supermarkets.
Karen Chalke of the District Council’s Economic Development team said: “We are excited to be showing-off the excellent food and drink producers we have locally. I want the hospitality, retail and catering sectors to come along and check out the wonderful products on display and make direct connections with the producers. Don’t miss out on this chance to source local food and drink from chocolate to chutney and from fresh-baked pastries to meat from stock reared on local pastures.”
SSDC’s Economic Development Portfolio Holder, Councillor Jo Roundell Greene, said, “This is a fantastic opportunity to encourage local retailers to sell some great local food produce. Food and drink produced in and around South Somerset and sold locally benefits sales, reduces food miles, helps local producers and strengthens our economy.”
Visitors will be welcomed at the show between 10.30am and 1.30pm.
