The Somerton & Frome Branch of the UK Independence Party have announced details of their first Christmas dinner to be held in Evercreech. Barry Harding, Branch Chairman, said ‘In recent years our Branch has been growing steadily with increasing membership but our growth over the last year has been significant in both members and enquiries and we felt the success warranted a celebration. As our largest membership increase has been in the Evercreech area we decided to locate our dinner there.
On Saturday 30 November our main Speaker will be Roger Helmer, UKIP MEP and importantly our Energy Spokesman given the local and controversial plans for wind turbines on the Mendips. Our informed speaker will be able to present both technical and common-sense points in a light hearted manner to address a serious topic as to why the scheme is bonkers in all aspects.
Roger Helmer defected from the Conservative Party some years ago to join Ukip as an MEP.
Also on a light note our Guest of Honour and Speaker will be Neil Hamilton, Deputy Chairman of Ukip and Chairman of Ukip Wiltshire. Neil is a well known and controversial character in his own right, has a well earned reputation as an amusing after-dinner speaker and is in demand on the national speaking circuit as well as making many TV appearances to represent Ukip.’
Attendance at this celebratory occasion is open to members of UKIP and their guests as well as non-members. Tickets and details of the three course dinner, to be held in Evercreech Village Hall (BA4 6JP) on Saturday 30 November with tickets costing £17.50, can be obtained from Barry Harding 01749 880730 or Colin McNamee, 01458 850679.
