Trowbridge’s budding rock stars raise the roof

Young bands from a Bath and Trowbridge rock school showed that months of practice had paid off when they raised the roof at their end of year concert.

READY TO ROCK: Students from The Rock Project Bath and Trowbridge, rehearsed all year for their showcase gig.

More than 30 members of The Rock Project, who have spent a year being taught by professional, gigging musicians, took part in the gig.

The Roper Theatre in Haysfield Girls’ School had an audience of more than 100 as the students, aged from just seven to 18, took to the stage.

Mike Aris who runs The Rock Project Bath and Trowbridge said: “I couldn’t be more proud of the students who worked so hard to put in a great performance.

ON SONG: Students aged 7-18 took to the stage at The Roper Theatre, Bath.

“They have been preparing for this gig for months and reaction from the audience was amazing, showing that all the practising had really paid off.”

The students, who play every week at Beechen Cliff School, Bath and The Arc Theatre, Trowbridge, performed a mixture of music ranging from Coldplay and Survivor to The Clash and Blur.

Student of the Year Awards were presented to Louie Dekoninck from the junior sessions and Molly Hanson from the senior group.
