Step back in time at The Bishop’s Palace on Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th July when The Taunton Garrison will be taking over the South Lawn to entertain visitors with their fabulous Living History experience in this perfect medieval setting.
The well-loved re-enactment group will bring their entertaining and informative display to The Bishop’s Palace Gardens for two days only.
It is the Summer of 1588, Queen Elizabeth I is on the throne. England is threatened by a great fleet sent from Spain – the Spanish Armada.
All over the country the local Trayned Bands are mustering to prepare to resist the Spanish. The Trayned Bands are part time soldiers who are mobilised when danger threatens – these part time soldiers are all that stands in the way of a highly trained and experienced Spanish Army, if it were to reach land.
Come and see Taunton Garrison prepare to defend her shores against the Spanish foe and be impressed by the Living History skills, skirmishes and mighty weapons demonstrations!
Watch out for pike drills, drums, period instruments, a coffee house and a tented inn to complete the living history scene!
Included with admission, Under 5’s are free.
