Heart charity challenges everyone in South West to run a marathon in a month this May to fund research
The British Heart Foundation is challenging everyone in the South West to run a marathon in a month this May as part of its brand new fundraiser MyMarathon to help fund life saving heart research.
The nation’s heart charity is challenging everyone in the area to join the fight against heart disease by taking on the 26.2 miles in their own time, at their own pace this May.
You don’t need calves of steel or lungs of iron to run a marathon. Now everyone can go the distance!
With MyMarathon, you can complete the challenge in your own time, whether it’s over 4 hours, 4 days or 4 weeks. Run to work every morning, jog during your lunchbreaks or run laps around the park in the evenings; you decide the place and you decide the pace.
Heart and circulatory disease affects almost 669,000 people in the South West and is responsible for over 15,000 deaths each year.
Every pound raised from MyMarathon will help the BHF fulfil its ambition to fund half a billion pounds of new research in the next five years, to revolutionise and accelerate the fight against heart disease.
Clare Cassidy, BHF Head of Community Fundraising in the South, said: “Heart disease is heartless. It can affect anyone at any age, but it’s only through research that we can help save more lives.
“Running a marathon is no easy feat, but with the MyMarathon challenge you decide the place and the pace, so now everyone can go the distance this May! It’s a great way to get active, have fun and help support our vital work so we’re asking everyone in the South West to get involved.”
