A new ‘Young Promoters’ initiative involving year 9, 10 and 11 students from Bucklers Mead, Westfield and Preston Academies have organised the next Zero Project under 18’s event at Club Neo, Stars Lane, Yeovil on Wednesday 24 July from 7pm – 11pm. The event will be themed around the USA including a Bucking Bronco and donuts. Asda in Yeovil have kindly donated 400 donuts to the Young Promoters for this event. Somerset set to benefit from government growth fund investment
The latest announcements about projects and programmes that will receive investment through the government’s Regional Growth Fund bring opportunities and optimism for the Somerset economy, according to Somerset Chamber of Commerce. South Somerset based helicopter design and manufacturing company AgustaWestland was announced on 11 July as one of the successful bidders in Round 4 of the Regional Growth Fund, taking a share of a £506million pot of government funding that aims to help organisations expand their operations, create new jobs and stimulate private sector growth. South Somerset welcomes preliminary findings of the Local Plan Inspector
South Somerset District Council has received the letter setting out the Planning Inspector’s Preliminary Findings from the Local Plan Examination in Public that was held in May and June of this year. The Inspector’s letter has not raised any fundamental concerns with the core elements of the plan which included the scale of housing growth – 15950 dwellings across a 22-year period – and its distribution across the towns and villages in South Somerset.
