Latest First World War donation tells the story of two Yeovil War Memorial soldiers
Photographs, memorial cards and a letter are the latest First World War items to be donated to South Somerset District Council’s Community Heritage Access Centre (CHAC) in Yeovil. The latest donation contains photographs of two soldiers who are on Yeovil’s War Memorial – Ernest ‘Dyke’ Luffman and Earle Mitchell. Their memorial cards and a letter from Ernest’s sister Mabel to a Mr Bird, trying to find out more about how Ernest died, complete the donation. Full story: Read more
Appeal for kitten owner to come forward
A lost little black kitten got the ride of its life when it was found under the wheel-arch of a council vehicle that travelled from Yeovil to Bruton! The kitten was believed to have boarded the vehicle at South Somerset District Council’s Lufton Depot on Artillery Road in Yeovil, where staff got a shock when they arrived in Bruton and discovered their extra passenger on Wednesday 16 July.
