Ninesprings Café, Yeovil: Education and Information Centre formally unveiled

Centre @ Halloween EventThe Ninesprings Café, Education and Information Centre was formally unveiled on Monday 3 November by South Somerset District Council Chairman, Councillor Mike Best. Sitting on the cycleway through Yeovil Country Park, with great links to Yeovil town, the new multipurpose building includes volunteer space, a countryside workshop and a superb family and dog friendly café, offering a range of products in a lovely setting. Adding to local Heritage Collection

Stephen Petter with Guy Petter's adding machineSSDC’s Community Heritage Access Centre has received an important donation from the Petter family – founders of Westland Helicopters – in the shape of an adding machine. The machine has been given by Mr Stephen Petter, grandson of Guy Petter, the inventor. The machine weighs four and a half kilograms and is mechanical which means it operates without any electrical supply. Full story: Read more

Fitness at 50+

Fitness classFunding for an over-50s fitness session in Yeovil means that people will be able to take part for only £2. The sessions are specifically for participants aged over 50, with a qualified gym instructor on hand for guidance and advice. South Somerset District Council, working in partnership with Bucklers Mead Leisure Centre, is using special Active Somerset funding to provide the sessions at the reduced rate.  The Council is keen to promote active ageing and activity opportunities for all ages across the district.
