A newly built affordable housing scheme for local people at Minchingtons Close in Norton-sub-Hamdon has been welcomed by South Somerset District Council. Over a number of years, South Somerset District Council, Yarlington Housing Group and the Parish Council have worked to help ensure that the village is not a place where only the minority can afford to live and bring up their families. Blake Envelopes get onboard with St Margaret’s Atlantic Challenge
Last month saw the launch of St Margaret’s Hospice’s nautical fundraising event – ‘Challenge of a Lifetime,’ of which Blake Envelopes is a proud sponsor. Taking place from 16 October 2014 to 16 April 2015, the challenge will see intrepid sailors from across the UK covering some serious distance across the Atlantic Ocean. This exciting voyage supports the fantastic work of St Margaret’s Hospice, a charity committed to providing specialist care to those with terminal or life-limiting illnesses, motor neurone disease and chronic lung disease. Help identify First World War Memorial soldier
South Somerset District Council’s Community Heritage Access Centre (CHAC) are asking for your help to identify a First World War solider whose name appears on Yeovil’s War Memorial. T Thorne died in the First World War but has never been positively identified. Staff from CHAC are hoping that someone may remember his family or may have heard of him and will come forward to give information needed to identify him and enable him to be properly remembered.
