Community put down roots at King Arthur Drive Play Area

tree planting2Local residents rolled up their sleeves and got digging for the Tree Planting Day which formed part of the brand new King Arthur Drive Play Area project in Yeovil. The new play area will provide a challenging and fun environment for young people and will feature a range of exciting new equipment including a zip line, a toddler and junior climbing frame, a basket swing as well as a new footpath and seating. Westland 100th anniversary exhibition set to go on display – with your help

2015 is the centenary of the Westland Aircraft WorkWestlands in Yeovil and the anniversary will be commemorated by a display at Yeovil’s Town House along with the production of a souvenir booklet. South Somerset District Council’s Community Heritage Access Centre staff are asking whether anyone has any photographs or objects concerning Westland and/or the First World War that they can place in the exhibition. Local Soroptimists support Sherborne’s Zest Café

Soroptimist InternationalThe Yeovil, Sherborne & Districts club of Soroptimist International has chosen the Zest Café in Sherborne to be one of the charities they will support during 2015. The Zest Café, which helps people recovering from mental health problems, announced in September that it needs to raise £25,000 in order to retain the lease on its premises in Abbey Road. Local Soroptimists have already donated £200 and plan to give more by the café’s fundraising deadline of December this year. Full story: Read more
