Three volunteers in Yeovil have received celebratory pin badges to recognise their dedication to leading Health Walks in Yeovil. The leaders – Jean Phillips and Ian and Shirley Holloway – all took part in South Somerset District Council’s free Walk Leader training course and have since gone on to lead hundreds of walks between them. Health Walks in South Somerset create more opportunities for people to exercise in their local community, reducing the need to travel and providing low cost activity. Full story: Read more
Ham Hill Wood Fayre to celebrate all that native woodlands give us
Join the Countryside rangers for a celebration of all that native woodlands give us on Saturday 5th September for the first Ham Hill Wood Fayre. From 10am, come along to the stone circle area at Ham Hill and watch chainsaw carving and horse logging demonstrations, participate in campfire cooking with the Scouts, enjoy the forest school mud kitchen or a wide range of free children’s activities in the kid’s zone. Pupils celebrate GCSE results at Chilton Cantelo School
Chilton Cantelo School pupils and staff celebrated a 99% GCSE pass rate today with 80% of grades achieved in the A* to C (12% above the national attainment level) and 78% of pupils achieving 5 or more A* to C grades. 25% of grades were A*/A. 100% pass rates were achieved by pupils in Biology, Physics, French, Spanish and Religious Studies.
