To celebrate the joy of cycling, South Somerset District Council is inviting families to hop onto the saddle and take part in the 2ndBike Fest on Wednesday 17th August. Thousands of families descended on Yeovil for free fun including tree climbing, water wars and circus skills at National Playday on Wednesday 3 August. The annual National Playday event – which is organised and funded by the Community Health & Leisure Team at South Somerset District Council –offered a huge variety of activities and experiences for children and young people across South Somerset and beyond. Yeovil-based Brimsmore Gardens is among the Garden Centre Association’s (GCA) Wales & West regional award-winners once again this year, picking up first place and a Certificate of Merit in the Environmental Opportunities category. Brimsmore Gardens’ latest award follows the GCA’s round of unannounced annual inspections earlier in the year and recognise the continuous improvements made at the centre in areas relating to its environmental impact on the wider community.
