South Somerset’s Countryside Rangers and volunteers are delighted to have again secured Green Flag Awards for Ham Hill and Yeovil Country Parks and Chard Reservoir Local Nature Reserve. Country Park Dog shows a treat for all
Tails were wagging with delight after South Somerset District Council successfully held two Dog Shows at Ham Hill Country Park and Yeovil Country Park. Over 95 dogs entered the various classes at the dog show at Yeovil Country Park held on 2 June and plenty of visitors who did not have dogs also attended the event. Profits raised from that day which will be split evenly between Heavens Gate and the Dogs Trust, Salisbury. Meanwhile, at the Ham Hill Country Park Fun Dog Show on 12 July, more than 180 dogs entered the events on the day and profits from the event will be split between the Friends of Ham Hill group and Ferne Animal Sanctuary. Easy-access route maps produced for two District Council Country Parks
A joint project between South Somerset District Council’s Equalities Officer, Countryside team and Yeovil Shopmobility, has produced annotated maps of easy-access routes around Ham Hill Country Park and Yeovil Country Park. The maps show accessible routes for residents and visitors to enjoy, with information on parking, toilets and refreshments and tips on features and wildlife to look out for along the way.
