Work in Wells Week a big success

WIWW Trade FairOver 100 people turned out for the third annual Work in Wells Week, Trade Fair held in Wells Town Hall last month. Organised by the Mendip Hub and partners, Work in Wells Week took place from 14 – 18 September in various venues around Wells, and featured a series of free seminars and drop in events covering a varied range of business subjects. The trade fair took place on the Thursday as part of Work in Wells Week and featured 24 stalls, two speakers and Far Flung Foodie, who was a big hit come lunchtime. Mendip Businesses to Get Connected

Screen Shot 2015-08-25 at 11.49.59Free training sessions are being held in Mendip next month to help local businesses discover the power of social media. The four events, which will take place in Frome, Wells, Street and Nunney, are being run by Get up to Speed as part of the Connecting Devon and Somerset project and will demonstrate the effectiveness of social media and the importance of having an online presence when running a successful business. Sarah & kidsA local start-up business has thanked Mendip District Council’s Environment Health team for their support and assistance, which has helped them get to where they are today. After moving to Somerset, Ian and Sarah Davies of Wookey Farm, Wookey, made the decision to start up their own business producing and selling goat’s cheese and milk. With little knowledge of the food manufacturing industry the couple’s first port of call was to contact Mendip District Council’s environmental health team to find out more about the rules and regulations around producing food products.
