From 12th November 2016, The Bishop’s Palace in Wells will host a new exhibition by artist Anthony Butterfield. Anthony works with oils, which he applies to the reverse side of glass to create the finished paintings. Over the years he has spent considerable time perfecting this technique and has developed his own methods to bring luminosity to his images. Full story: Read more
The Bishop’s Palace Gardens were given the accolade of being featured on BBC Gardener’s World last Friday evening. Viewers were treated to a segment in the new, longer format, programme in which Head Gardener James Cross was followed by presenter Alan Power for a day, in order to discover what his daily gardening schedule involves! The Bishop’s Palace in Wells is to receive Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall on Friday 21st October as part of a charity event for Beanstalk at the Wells Festival of Literature. The Duchess will be received by The Right Reverend Peter Hancock, Bishop of Bath & Wells who will take the chance show her some of the public rooms and the private Chapel of this unique medieval palace.
