The Royal Photographic Society’s International Print Exhibition 159 opens at the Museum of Somerset from 14 January to 11 March 2017. Launched in 1854 and now in its 159th edition, it is the longest-running exhibition of its kind in the world. This year’s exhibition features an eclectic mix of work by 75 photographers from 16 countries, carefully selected by a panel of experts, and will provide a fascinating insight into the range and diversity of photography today. Hestercombe brings home gold at Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards
Hestercombe, near Taunton, is celebrating after winning gold at the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards in the category of Small Attraction of the Year. The awards, which feed into the South West Tourism Awards and the national Visit England Awards, are held every year and celebrate the great websites, reviews and social media interaction of destinations across the region. Explore your Family and Local History
A new programme of courses designed to help local people explore their family and local history has been announced by the South West Heritage Trust. The courses start in November and will be held at the Somerset Heritage Centre in Taunton. The centre provides access to 20 million historic documents and local history sources, the earliest of which dates from the 8th century. Full story: Read more
