A jewelled and enamelled casket depicting medieval England’s most infamous murder is going on display at the Museum of Somerset in Taunton. The Becket Casket, made in about 1180, held relics of St Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury. WILL YOUNG ANNOUNCED AS SOMERSET ROCKS’ SECOND ARTIST
Will Young has announced today (1 December) that he will perform a one-off show in Taunton in August and is the second artist to be announced as part of the Somerset Rocks line-up. Will Young will take to the outdoor stage on Saturday 27 August 2016, the second evening of Somerset Rocks, the three-night music event being held in Taunton’s Vivary Park during the August bank holiday weekend (26 – 28 August 2016). Santa’s Grotto Opens at the Museum of Somerset
The Museum of Somerset elves are putting the finishing touches to Santa’s Grotto ready for families to visit in the run up to Christmas. Santa’s Grotto will be open on Saturday 5, 12 and 19 December between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm. Due to its popularity families are encouraged to book their time slot in advance. Whilst visiting Santa, families can also enjoy the Elf Trail which takes visitors on a quiz trail around the museum in search of cuddly elves. Full story: Read more
