With National Volunteers’ Week taking place this week (1st – 7th June), South Somerset District Council wanted to thank all those residents who volunteer or are part of Friends groups with Council services. Volunteers in South Somerset help to maintain the wonderful award winning Countryside sites across the district; help to ensure artefacts at the Community Heritage Access Centre (CHAC) are kept in a good condition for other visitors and also help you to your seats at Somerset’s premier theatre, the Octagon Theatre. Free Tennis Served up across South Somerset
With tennis fever set to grip the nation during the summer, tennis clubs across South Somerset and Yeovil Recreation Centre are opening their doors over three weekends and offering free tennis taster sessions. Free tennis will be available on 16th/17th May, 13th/14th June and 1st/2nd August. The initiative by the Lawn Tennis Association is part of the Great British Tennis Weekend, which will see over 1,500 park sites and tennis clubs across the country open up for free. Everyone invited to have their say on the future of leisure in South Somerset
The Community Health & Leisure Team at South Somerset District Council is inviting local councils, clubs, organisations, schools and members of the public to have their say on a brand new Leisure, Play & Youth Strategy by attending consultation events in Castle Cary, Yeovil and Chard.
