South Somerset District Council’s Community Heritage Access Centre (CHAC) are asking for your help to identify a First World War solider whose name appears on Yeovil’s War Memorial. T Thorne died in the First World War but has never been positively identified. Staff from CHAC are hoping that someone may remember his family or may have heard of him and will come forward to give information needed to identify him and enable him to be properly remembered. Ninesprings Café, Yeovil: Education and Information Centre formally unveiled
The Ninesprings Café, Education and Information Centre was formally unveiled on Monday 3 November by South Somerset District Council Chairman, Councillor Mike Best. Sitting on the cycleway through Yeovil Country Park, with great links to Yeovil town, the new multipurpose building includes volunteer space, a countryside workshop and a superb family and dog friendly café, offering a range of products in a lovely setting. Fitness at 50+
Funding for an over-50s fitness session in Yeovil means that people will be able to take part for only £2. The sessions are specifically for participants aged over 50, with a qualified gym instructor on hand for guidance and advice. South Somerset District Council, working in partnership with Bucklers Mead Leisure Centre, is using special Active Somerset funding to provide the sessions at the reduced rate.
