A newly built affordable housing scheme for local people at Minchingtons Close in Norton-sub-Hamdon has been welcomed by South Somerset District Council. Over a number of years, South Somerset District Council, Yarlington Housing Group and the Parish Council have worked to help ensure that the village is not a place where only the minority can afford to live and bring up their families. Residents urged to protect their health and those around you this winter
Cold homes have a significant impact on people’s health and one of the best ways of keeping yourself well during winter is to stay warm. Keeping warm over the winter months can help prevent colds, flu or more serious health conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, pneumonia and depression. Residents in South Somerset are being encouraged to look at the Public Health England’s 2014 Cold Weather Plan for England for practical ways to minimise the risk to our health this winter. South Somerset District Council to host meeting to reassure communities on flooding
South Somerset District Council will be holding a meeting for local communities, to provide reassurance and information on flooding as the winter approaches. It is one of several district meetings being held around Somerset as part of the 20 Year Flood Action Plan, set up after the extreme floods last winter, at the Government’s request.
