The fourth annual “Made in Somerset” held on Thursday 10th May turned out to be a bumper one, organisers say. Record numbers of visitors enjoyed the bigger-than-ever event, which showcases the finest designer-makers and artisan-producers from around the county. SOMERTON PUPILS BUILD ‘POD’ SCULPTURES WITH INTERNATIONAL ARTIST
Pupils at King Ina Academy became artists for the day last month, when international artist Jan Niedojadlo visited and helped them to build their own ‘pod’ sculptures. Jan’s interactive ‘podule’ exhibition had been on display at ACEArts in Somerton earlier this year and received positive comments from visitors of all ages, who were delighted at being encouraged to touch and climb into the artwork. Green Down Nature Reserve gets £500 reward
Somerset Wildlife Trust’s Green Down Nature Reserve, near Somerton, supports one of the largest populations of the Large Blue butterfly in Europe.
