WOMEN in Sherborne are being urged to grab their last chance to enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life at Sherborne Castle as there are just two weeks left until registration closes. An incredible number of women have already joined a ‘pink army’ ready to take on cancer on Sunday 21 June, but there are still places left. Entry closes on Friday June 19 and organisers are encouraging mums, daughters, grannies, sisters, friends and workmates who want to take part in the 5k women-only event to sign up as soon possible at raceforlife.org. Sherborne Mural is about to be installed!
The town of Sherborne has a fascinating history with many colourful episodes marking important points in the town’s development. These moments have been captured in full colour by the Sherborne Mural which will be gifted to the town at 6 pm on Friday 12 June 2015. The 18 large panels are now finished and being prepared for installation. This will take place against the wooden fence which borders Old Market Car Park, and when in place will provide a stunning image to greet visitors and residents alike. Full story: Read more
Local Soroptimists support Sherborne’s Zest Café
The Yeovil, Sherborne & Districts club of Soroptimist International has chosen the Zest Café in Sherborne to be one of the charities they will support during 2015. The Zest Café, which helps people recovering from mental health problems, announced in September that it needs to raise £25,000 in order to retain the lease on its premises in Abbey Road. Local Soroptimists have already donated £200 and plan to give more by the café’s fundraising deadline of December this year. Full story: Read more
