A vast range of vintage scientific equipment from a private collector in Sherborne is to be sold by Lawrences of Crewkerne on 6th September 2017. Mark Deavin, a former RAF technician who later worked for the Plessey Marine Research Unit, started collecting scientific instruments in the mid-1940s and has since built up an enormous array of items including mineral tubes, Van de Graaf generators and all kinds of specialist electrical measuring devices. Leweston pupil, Lorna (aged 9) has been awarded second place in a national poster competition about Staying Safe Online. The competition was run by the charity, Out of Your Hands, which supports exploring the digital world safely and happily. Lorna’s class all created posters in their Computing lessons and even took the photographs that they used. Full story: Read more
