Norton-sub-Hamdon is proud to announce that it is hosting a village festival during harvest, 9th-11th October. There will be plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy, including a village scarecrow trail, an in the Reading Room, a re-enactment of an historic horse ride, family film night, a concert by the Parnham Voices, floral displays and exhibits with refreshments, promenade performances in the village church and a village feast. All culminating in a special service in the church with our benefice choir and guest preacher. Something for everyone to enjoy. This is a real village community event to which all are invited. Parnham Voices in Festival Concert
Parnham Voices, the acclaimed Beaminster based a Capella choir, will be performing the Festival Concert at Norton sub Hamdon as part of ‘Norton sub Hamdon’ on Friday 9th October in St Mary’s Church, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are available in advance from Norton Community Shop at a cost of £6 or on the door for £7. The concert will feature songs from several centuries of choral music and specially selected readings by James Wilson.
Norton shop reopens following grant from South Somerset District Council
The future of the village shop in Norton-Sub-Hamdon has been secured, helped by a grant from South Somerset District Council of £9,436 to the Norton Community Land Trust (CLT) which has leased the shop premises and will be largely run by local volunteers. The post office and shop has provided a vital local service for many years supporting Norton itself and the nearby villages of Chiselborough and West Chinnock. Full story: Read more
