The Southern Co-operative Funeralcare branches in Shaftesbury and Gillingham hosted a hand car wash with tea and cake to raise over £235 for the disabled children’s charity, Whizz-Kidz. The funeral home colleagues and volunteers scrubbed cars, campervans and even a tractor outside the Shaftesbury funeral home on Salisbury Road, whilst the owners waited in the comfort of the branch with hot tea and fresh, homemade cakes. Gillingham Walking Festival 2015
Final preparations are now in full swing for the second Gillingham Walking Festival taking place from the 5-13th September. The event will be launched on Saturday 5th September at 9.45am on the Town Meadow by the Mayor or Gillingham and our special guest Kate Ashbrook – President of the Ramblers national organisation. Gillingham, Mere and Shaftesbury Lions 33rd Annual SpecTrek a success
A recurring truth is Lions club international have, and do, improve peoples’ sight, it is one of the four pillars of Lion Club International Foundation. Gillingham, Mere & Shaftesbury Lions Club has participated in SpecTrek for over 25 years, in addition to supporting Lions Clubs International’s SightFirst II Campaign, this year was no exception. In the UK the SpecTrek Project is run by the regions Lions annually with collection in April by Petersfield Lions club, who travel around the region collecting every Club’s donations at a number of designated pick-up points including a lunchtime stop-over with us in Gillingham.
