Competition for Kids at Ferne Animal Sanctuary
Excited staff at Ferne Animal Sanctuary in Wambrook, Chard, Somerset have put together an unusual summer holiday competition for children everywhere to get creative. Youngsters are being encouraged to make their very own Fairy, Elf or Pixie door, decorating it anyway they like. Once completed, it will be placed at the bottom of a tree within the mythical woods at Ferne, ready for magical creatures to make it their new home. Full story: Read more
Country Park Dog shows a treat for all
Tails were wagging with delight after South Somerset District Council successfully held two Dog Shows at Ham Hill Country Park and Yeovil Country Park. Over 95 dogs entered the various classes at the dog show at Yeovil Country Park held on 2 June and plenty of visitors who did not have dogs also attended the event. Profits raised from that day which will be split evenly between Heavens Gate and the Dogs Trust, Salisbury. Meanwhile, at the Ham Hill Country Park Fun Dog Show on 12 July, more than 180 dogs entered the events on the day and profits from the event will be split between the Friends of Ham Hill group and Ferne Animal Sanctuary.
