Cheddar Male Choir celebrates a year’s work for charities and good causes by putting on their Annual Concert. This year’s concert, marks the 21st year of formation, and is being held in St Andrews Church in Cheddar. They will be joined by the renowned Cornish Treverva Male Voice Choir who are on a long weekend tour of our region. The concert will help to raise funds to keep the choir helping others raise money. Charity seeks riders for Brunel Flyer cycle challenge
The Brunel Flyer Cycle Challenge will take place this spring and children’s charity Action Medical Research is calling for riders to sign up now for the event on Sunday 10 May. There is a choice of Cool (40 miles,) Classic (61 miles) and Champion (100 miles) routes setting out from the Wellsway Sports Centre, Chandag road in Keynsham. The routes take in the stunning scenery surrounding Bath including, the Chew Valley, Cheddar, White Horse at Westbury, and Longleat Estate. Full story: Read more

A hedgehog that has shed its fur and prickles because of an infection is being cared for at a rescue centre in Cheddar. A hedgehog that has shed its fur and prickles because of an infection is being cared for at a rescue centre in Cheddar. Pumpkin was taken to Prickles Hedgehog Rescue with swollen legs but later lost his fur and prickles. Staff at the centre plan to care for the creature until he has re-grown his spines to ensure he is not left vulnerable to predators. The hedgehog will be released back to the wild in spring.
