Leweston School proudly supported Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ by organising a coffee morning at the Junior Department and cake sale at the Senior School. The pupils donated a great variety of delicious cakes and other treats all of which were too tempting to resist as they were sold and enjoyed equally as quickly. The school is delighted that their baking efforts raised over £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Somerset Charity Reaches £1million in its 10th Anniversary Year!
School in a Bag, the initiative run by the Piers Simon Appeal based in Chilthorne Domer near Yeovil, has reached its first £1 million milestone – in the charity’s 10th anniversary year. The Piers Simon Appeal (PSA) was set up in memory of Piers who sadly lost his life in the Indian Ocean Tsunami on Boxing Day in 2004, following a collection at his memorial, which raised £10,000. Somerset Sight charity’s need for volunteer visitors
Somerset Sight supports people in Somerset who are blind or partially sighted through regular visits by local volunteers, many people are housebound and have no family to visit them. We welcome volunteers of any age into our befriending service – you need no particular qualities, just the desire to help someone who needs a friend and a willingness to visit someone regularly.
