Competition for Kids at Ferne Animal Sanctuary
Excited staff at Ferne Animal Sanctuary in Wambrook, Chard, Somerset have put together an unusual summer holiday competition for children everywhere to get creative. Youngsters are being encouraged to make their very own Fairy, Elf or Pixie door, decorating it anyway they like. Once completed, it will be placed at the bottom of a tree within the mythical woods at Ferne, ready for magical creatures to make it their new home. Full story: Read more
Go wild at Chard Countryside Day this coming Saturday
If you haven’t visited before, Saturday is the prefect chance to make a first foray over to the beautiful reservoir site at Chard owned by South Somerset District Council. With lovely woodland walks with watery views and meadows alive with insects and flowers, July is a great time to explore the reserve and all it offers. On Saturday 18 July from 11:00am until 4:00pm, the countryside ranger team will be on site with lots of free family activities including bug hunting, pond dipping, face painting, forest school activities and wood turning.
