As part of the V3 Project for Yeovil Country Park, consideration is being given to the ways in which residents of Yeovil and the surrounding villages could volunteer their time to help Yeovil Country Park, to make it an even better place to visit!
Councillor Sylvia Seal, Portfolio Holder for Leisure & Culture explained, “Yeovil Country Park has a very active volunteering group that meets every Thursday. The group helps to maintain the 127 acre site and has proved so popular that there are no volunteer places left! The Countryside Team has been busy identifying other volunteering opportunities that could be made available for the public and are asking anyone keen on getting involved over the three years of the V3 Project, to get in touch”.
Skills can be channelled to run the forthcoming café at Ninesprings, lead guided walks, run events, undertake surveys, help with school groups, fundraise, provide information and advice to visitors, undertake wardening and perhaps even undertake weekend practical conservation work.
Those who would like to offer their time after Autumn 2014 should visit www.southsomersetcountryside.com and fill in the ‘V3 Volunteer Survey Form for Yeovil Country Park’ over Summer 2014, which can be found under the Yeovil Country Park, volunteering webpages. The Countryside Team will then consider the responses and decide which avenues to follow under the V3 Project.
The Development Phase of the V3 Project is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. If the Heritage Lottery bid for the V3 Project is successful, the project will run from March 2015-February 2018. The V3 Project seeks to InVolve people with, foster Volunteering for and encourage Visits to Yeovil Country Park.
