Notice of election to be published for District and Parishes

Mendip District CouncilFormal ‘notice of election’ for the forthcoming District Council and Parish, Town and City Council elections will be published on Monday 23rd March.

As well as parliamentary elections on May 7th, voters will also go to the polls to elect councillors in 34 Mendip District Council wards and there will also be 71 parish elections.

The publication of the notice means that from 24th March completed nomination papers can be received by the Returning Officer at the Sheppey Room at Mendip District Council’s offices, the Shape Mendip Hub, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT.

Nomination papers for completion by prospective candidates are available now from the council offices. You can also call Mendip’s Electoral Services Team on 01749 341590 or 01749 341295 and a nomination form will be posted to you.

Stuart Brown, Mendip District Council Chief Executive and Returning Officer, said: “From Tuesday 24th March completed nomination forms for the local district and parish elections can be returned. I would urge anyone thinking of standing for election to complete their form as soon as possible and ensure it is returned to us by 4pm on Thursday 9th April.
