At the Bristol Bath & Somerset Awards, the West Somerset Railway were awarded BRONZE in the Large Attraction of the year grouping. The winners were judged by a panel of experts. Steeleye Span to play Cheese and Grain & Octagon Theatre during UK Tour
Steeleye Span are fast approaching their 50th anniversary, with a work rate to put many younger artists to shame. The bands’ eighth album in twelve years – 2016’s Dodgy Bastards – saw them return to the folk tales and characters that have always been at the heart of the Steeleye sound. Dodgy Bastards saw the folk-rock pioneers continue drawing stories of murder, religion, incest, skulls, honour killings and tormented spirit. Full story: Read more
Yeovil community radio station wins FM licence
Radio Ninesprings – community radio station for Yeovil and South Somerset – has been awarded a 5-year FM community radio licence by Ofcom. In May, Radio Ninesprings was awarded an AM community radio licence by Ofcom and will now surrender this licence in exchange for the FM licence. Radio Ninesprings plans to launch live ‘on air’ as Ninesprings FM by May/June 2018. Full story: Read more
