Get to grips with the green stuff with the ultimate experts in growing and cooking great British vegetables
Farmers and self-confessed ‘veg nerds’ Riverford Organic Farms are introducing their Master Veg cooking classes in Somerset to provide a fun, informative evening in which people can find out about life with a seasonal veg box. The class will take place at Provender Deli in South Petherton on 20th July 2016.
The class will involve a two hour hands-on cooking course using the best of the seasonal organic produce grown on Riverford’s farms, followed by a meal where the group will enjoy the food they have cooked.
Founded by farmer Guy Watson, Riverford has been growing and delivering its iconic organic veg boxes to homes across the country for 22 years, and are famous for championing veg-centric dishes. “Our cooking classes will show you that you don’t have to settle for boring boiled carrots, and that you can make cabbage or cauliflower really exciting. Our veg is grown for flavour, rather than yield, and our friendly cooking classes will show you how to make veg the star of your plate,” he explains.
Patrick Blandford, who delivers in Somerset says: “I’m really excited to be hosting these classes for the local community. It’s a fantastic way for potential customers to learn more about where our produce comes from, meet likeminded people in their area and learn valuable tips and an array of new cooking skills. Whether people are thinking about having weekly food deliveries from us, or just want an enjoyable evening in good company with great tasting, healthy food, it’s sure to be a good night.”
Classes cost £25 per person. Those who place an order for a veg box on the night will and take home a Riverford cookbook. To find out more or book, visit www.riverford.co.uk/masterveg
