It was time to raise a glass or two at a recent Summer Dining flower arranging workshop held at Combe St Nicholas Village Hall, near Chard in Somerset.
With great enthusiasm and an abundance of beautiful roses, ladies from Chard, Ilminster, Wadeford, Combe St Nicholas, Yeovil and Axminster learnt how to make three designs for their summer dining room tables.
First of all, they were shown how to make a luxurious ring-of-roses table centrepiece. This was followed by a leaf wrapping technique to create matching place settings. Then the finishing touch was learning how to fold their table napkins and dress these with roses too.
Lois DePury from Chard in Somerset (4th from right) said: “I learnt a lot, really loved what I made and was so pleased with it. This workshop was great.”
Carole Hanna from Axminster in Devon (1st on left) said: “For me, the perfect way to spend a day is at one of these workshops, they are such fun. We all followed Jackie’s carefully explained step-by-step instructions for all three designs.
“We created stunning, circular arrangements with our beautiful roses – which were the absolute stars of the show. It was such a relaxed, fun and friendly atmosphere. No pressure – just pleasure!”
Award-winning tutor Jackie Nicholls from Ashville Design in Somerset who runs the workshops added: “Making three different designs made this summer workshop extra special.
“The ladies who came all like entertaining, so it was an absolute delight to see that they are now able to dress their summer dining room tables so beautifully. Their finished designs were all incredibly good – and definitely had the ‘wow’ factor. 10 out of 10 from me!”
