Young clubbers can kick start their Summer holidays by having the chance to participate in a limbo competition and try their hand at surfing at the next Zero Project under 18’s Hawaiian party which is to be held on Wednesday 23rd July from 7pm – 11pm at Club Neo, Stars Lane, Yeovil.
Zero has been successfully running under 18 events during school holidays since 2007 for year 9 students and upwards, which attracts young people from across Somerset and Dorset.
The aim of the Zero project, which is supported by the local Police, District and County Councils, Inspired to Achieve, local schools, youth organisations and parents is to reduce anti-social and binge drinking by providing a safe, alcohol free environment where young people can enjoy a good night of music and dance. This is done by carrying out breath testing and bag searches on entry. Parents are expected to ensure that their children have a safe route home and the Zero team endeavours to ensure a safe passage to the nearby Stars Lane car park at the end of the evening.
Entry to the event is £5 payable on the door.
Councillor Ian Martin commented, “Another great themed night organised for the Under 18’s in South Somerset and beyond. I’m sure there will be plenty of takers for the limbo competition and surfing machine. If you’re a fan of Sky’s updated version of Hawaii 5-O, why not come along dressed as member of the crew? Come along to Zero, stay safe and enjoy!”
Young promoters are currently being recruited from the three Yeovil academies and Stanchester Academy who will participate in the organising and promotion of Zero events whilst working towards a national accreditation qualification.
A further Halloween Party is being planned for Wednesday 29 October at Club Neo with a special guest appearance by Dan Osborne from ITV2’s The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE).
