Have you heard about the Somerset Levels GREAT CRANE PROJECT?
The Great Crane Project aims to restore healthy populations of wild common cranes throughout the UK.
Cranes are wonderful, iconic birds that are sadly missing from many of their former wetland haunts in the UK. They were lost as a breeding bird around 400 years ago as a result of hunting for food and the draining of their wetland nesting sites.
Since 2010 , the Great Crane Project has focused on the reintroduction of cranes into the Somerset Levels and Moors.
We’d like to invite you to an Open meeting of Kingsbury Garden and Countryside Club when we will be hosting a talk from a member of the Project on Monday 14th September 7.30 at St Martin’s Church Rooms, Kingsbury Episcopi, TA12 6AU.
You will be very welcome to join us for tea and cake and a fascinating evening. Visitors £2.00, a donation will be made to the Project, so the more the merrier. For more details or a lift please phone Sue McGrouther 01460 241736. Children welcome.
