The police are being urged to intervene after more than 80% of drivers on a road in Yeovil, Somerset, flouted the speed limit. A speed indicator device on Lyde Road in the town recorded the motorists during an eight-day period in November. B&M’s plans to reopen former Focus DIY store in Shepton Mallet | This is Somerset
Tills could soon be ringing out once more at one of Shepton Mallet’s largest empty stores. Two years ago Focus DIY went into receivership, closing its Fosse Lane out-of-town premises. More than 80 jobs are at risk as Somerset County Council attempts to make £23m in savings over the next financial year. John Osman, leader of the Conservative-controlled administration, said there were “difficult times ahead” after the loss of 5% (£20m) of its funding.
