Two charities have announced their intention to create a unique residential educational facility in a derelict cottage deep within the RSPB’s new Franchises Lodge nature reserve in the New Forest National Park. The centre will provide a base from which small groups of young people will be able to have exceptional, immersive experiences in nature, and will be called ‘Cameron’s Cottage’ in memory Cameron Bespolka who died in a tragic accident, aged just 16. RARE OIL BY ROYAL FAVOURITE EDWARD SEAGO COULD MAKE £30,000
The oil on canvas was painted by Edward Seago (1910-1974), who was selected as an official artist for the Coronation in 1953 because of Queen Elizabeth’s fondness for his work. Not only was one of Seago’s oils selected by HM The Queen as the most successful depiction of the Coronation procession but the artist himself made gifts of pictures twice a year to the Queen Mother up until his death in 1974. LONGLEAT TO HOST UK’S LARGEST EVER HOT AIR BALLOON GATHERING
More than 200 hot air balloons from around the world will be arriving at Longleat next month for the largest gathering ever in the UK. A menagerie of flying animals will be among the highlights of this year’s Longleat Sky Safari (September 14th-16th). The spectacular three-day event is also aiming to create a new UK record for the most balloons in the sky simultaneously, with more than 150 inflatables of all shapes and sizes set to take to the skies above the Wiltshire estate.
