Join Hansons as they raise money for The Royal British Legion through sewing and crafts during their 2-day Project Poppy event and Remembrance display.
Hansons Fabrics & Crafts in Sturminster Newton, Dorset, are hosting a creative and craft-filled 2-day charity event on Friday 4th & Saturday 5th November. Raising money for The Royal British Legion during their Poppy Appeal and in the lead up to Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday, Hansons will be transformed into a hive of creativity as customers knit, crochet, felt, sew and stick their very own hand-crafted poppies to either take away or add to the shop’s display. All the tools, materials and patterns will be provided and accompanied by decorated cakes, tea & coffee and 10% off selected products, all in exchange for donations to charity.
“It is really encouraging to see a business making the effort to go the extra yard to raise money for the Service and Ex-Service community.” says Trevor Legg, Chairman of the Sturminster Newton Branch, The Royal British Legion. “The variety of ideas they have come up with around the “Project Poppy” event is wonderful. It really brings the local community into the fore with their crafts, cakes and refreshments. It really is very much appreciated by the local Branch and the Poppy Appeal nationally.” Hansons are thrilled to have had such a fantastic response and great support from The Royal British Legion regarding Project Poppy and hope to repeat this event every year.
Hansons Fabrics & Crafts are also inviting the public to bring a photograph of a loved and lost soldier they wish to remember this year. Photographs will be added to their Remembrance Tree which will then become the main feature of their emotive Remembrance shop window display, remaining in place for the whole month of November.
Earlier this year, Hansons raised over £200 for Julia’s House during their Yarn Shop Day event, which proved to be a great success. “This event shall be even bigger than any other we have hosted. We have worked hard all summer planning and preparing and we’re so excited to share Project Poppy with our customers!” says Jo Kennedy, Online Marketing & Events Manager, Hansons Fabrics & Crafts.
