The Healing Weekend organiser Elaine Fenton admitted being “quite moved” by the sight of the sea of visitors flowing through the gates as visitors came from far and wide to experience three days of magic in the heart of the Somerset countryside at Secret World in East Huntspill on 10-12 July. “We had some 3,500 visitors across the three days, not only from up and down Great Britain but also including some from as far away as Australia, Dubai and other parts of Europe,” Elaine said. “We also had coaches bringing groups from Wales and the Midlands.” Full story: Read more
Go wild at Chard Countryside Day this coming Saturday
If you haven’t visited before, Saturday is the prefect chance to make a first foray over to the beautiful reservoir site at Chard owned by South Somerset District Council. With lovely woodland walks with watery views and meadows alive with insects and flowers, July is a great time to explore the reserve and all it offers. On Saturday 18 July from 11:00am until 4:00pm, the countryside ranger team will be on site with lots of free family activities including bug hunting, pond dipping, face painting, forest school activities and wood turning. Chard Summer Festival set to entertain
Preparations for the Chard Summer Festival are coming to a conclusion, with the event set to start on Saturday 18 July from 9am. The town’s Summer Festival is set to be held over two days and will see Holyrood Street shut for a Craft / Street Market, street entertainers, the ‘Chard Eye’ Ferris wheel, the lighting of the beacon, plus much more.
