Damian Clarke, having been a musician for many years, has recently brought more drawings, words and dulcimer music together so that people can view and hear his work, sharing what inspires him when touring and exploring remote parts of Europe. Damian will be performing his musical soundscapes within the gallery space at a special “Meet The Artist” event on August 22nd at 3pm. Entry is free. This will be a chance to view the pictures with the added dimension of sound. There will be opportunities to ask questions and discuss the paintings. The Artistic and Musical Directors of Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club perform in rural Somerset
Organised by a local community group, Drayton Events, this concert features the extraordinary talents of Pete Long (Musical Director of Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club) and James Pearson (Artistic Director of Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club) who will be combined in a concert of spectacular musicianship the like of which has not been seen in Somerset for many a year (certainly not in the ballroom of a small hotel in a small town in the middle of the Somerset levels!). Dorset One World Festival is hailed a success the second year running
The sun shone on the Borough Gardens and the Festival kicked off from 11am with a lively African Dance workshop with the Mayor and Mayoress and the Town Crier joining in the spirit of the day. The Festival trumped last year’s event with diverse performances on the World Music and Dance Stage and activities around the site with demonstrations ranging from African drumming, Latvian Dance, and Chinese Cookery with local celebrity chef, Andy Chu.
