It’s going to be a really spooktacular time at Ferne Animal Sanctuary, Wambrook, near Chard, Somerset during half-term week. Organiser Sarah Jackson from Ferne Animal Sanctuary said: “We’re having an interactive, creepy trail around the Sanctuary from Monday 26 October-Sunday 1 November to help Wendy the Witch find the magic word to help fix her wonky broom stick. “She needs all the help she can get so she can make it in time to pick up her award for Worm Welfare at the Witches and Wizards Wildlife Awareness Weekend. Mary Siraut, Author of Queen Camel and the Cadburys speaking in Castle Cary Thursday 22 October
Mary Siraut is the author of the latest volume in the Victoria County History series on Somerset, Queen Camel and the Cadburys. This book is a comprehensive account of the ten parishes comprising the southern half of the Catash Hundred, an area rich in archeology and history. There will be an opportunity for people living in the area to ask questions about their houses, churches and their parish. ‘Flights of Fancy’ Somerset Textile Artist’s first solo exhibition at Midsomer Quiliting, Bath
‘Flights of Fancy’ by Angela Knapp. In this, her first solo exhibition, Angela presents a body of work inspired by her love for, and fascination with birds. In late 2014 after many years of experimenting with fabric, Angela entered the Midsomer Quilting 12×12 ‘Music’ themed exhibition. Her submission – ‘Blackbird’ (Singing in the Dead of Night), sparked a new creative journey for her as a textile artist, culminating in this unique series of images.
