Girls from Bruton School for Girls are taking part in a range of activities and events for ‘Girls Go Green’ week, starting Monday 23rd September. The school utilises its rural environment by bringing learning outside the classroom to life with its very own wildlife nature reserve and Eco-Squad which comprises of girls who are keen to champion the cause. The school is one of only 27 schools in the country, and the only one in the South West to hold the Eco Schools Ambassador Award, demonstrating green issues and sustainability embedded into the ethos of the school. New sponsorship for Sherborne Jazz Club!
Sherborne Jazz Club has been given a boost this year with new sponsorship, and a grant from PRSF and Jazz Services. Club chair Paul Chousmer took receipt of the PRSF and Jazz Services Jazz Promoters Award last month, given “in recognition of the panel being impressed by your diverse programme containing exciting new music”. Dairy Show attracts the cream of the crop
More than 250 dairy cattle from across the country will be competing for the prestigious interbreed championship at the Dairy Show in Somerset next month. Entries are already flooding in, with some of the nation’s best breeders hoping to take home the silver. And show organiser Alan Lyons has secured some top judges from as far afield as Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. “The Dairy Show is one of the largest specialist dairy events in the country, and everyone wants to come and exhibit their best cows and see how they measure up to their compatriots both within and between the breeds,” he says.
