Somerset charity the Piers Simon Appeal is appealing for funds to help people in the disaster stricken Philippine islands following the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan. CHRISTMAS CONCERT ON FRIDAY 13 DECEMBER AT DRAYCOTT
A Community Defibrillator for Draycott will be a step nearer thanks to a Christmas concert at the Draycott Memorial Hall at 7 p.m. on Friday 13 December. Cheddar Male Choir along with Draycott & Rodney Stoke First School and soloist Mezzo-Soprano Francesca Bowkett are inviting Parents, Grand Parents and Children along with the whole community and those further afield to a CHRISTMAS CONCERT to help raise money for a very much needed community defibrillator which will help save lives. Tickets can be purchased from Draycott Post Office, Draycott Primary School or at the door on the night. They are £8 for adults and seniors with under 18s £4 and Primary School Children, from any school, will get in for FREE. There will also be mulled wine, drinks for the children and mince pies at a very reasonable price. This fund raising event will no doubt get the audience into the Christmas spirit.

The Somerton & Frome Branch of the UK Independence Party have announced details of their first Christmas dinner to be held in Evercreech. Barry Harding, Branch Chairman, said ‘In recent years our Branch has been growing steadily with increasing membership but our growth over the last year has been significant in both members and enquiries and we felt the success warranted a celebration.
