If you know a thing or two about composting, thousands of people in Somerset need your advice, and there is a free course coming up soon to help you share your skills. The training day on Saturday 28 March is part of the Compost Champions scheme, in which a network of volunteers spread their know-how to friends, neighbours and their community. THE OCTAGON THEATRE CELEBRATES CHILDREN’S LITERATURE WITH ‘THE SNAIL AND THE WHALE’ AND ‘ROOM ON THE BROOM’
The Octagon Theatre is delighted to be presenting two fantastic productions from Tall Stories (the creators of ‘The Gruffalo’ stage show) this season. Two classic children’s stories will be brought to life live on stage: ‘The Snail and the Whale’ and ‘Room on the Broom’. The productions are originally children’s books by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler and are firmly established as family favourites at bed time. ‘The Snail and the Whale’ is a story all about a tiny snail who hitches a lift on the back of a humpback whale and has to save the day when the whale gets beached. Training helps to keep older people flexible
South Somerset District Council’s Healthy Lifestyles Team helped to keep older and frail people on the move with a fun packed Flexercise session at the Octagon Theatre on Thursday 26 February. Staff from hospitals, day centres, sheltered housing schemes as well as community volunteers learnt all the basics of Flexercise in an enjoyable but informative session. Full story: Read more
