After a school visit to Yeovil Country Park to visit the woodland as part of a special geography study week, class 4 pupils at Birchfield Primary School were disappointed to encounter large amounts of dog poo, spoiling their visit to the Country Park and limiting the environmental studies that they could carry out. The student and teachers who visited the park felt so strongly about the problem that four students put pen to paper and wrote to Councillor Tony Lock asking for more bins and posters in the Country Park advising dog owners to clear up after their pets. Dancing and Donuts on offer at the next Zero Project event – USA Party – Wednesday 24 July 2013
A new ‘Young Promoters’ initiative involving year 9, 10 and 11 students from Bucklers Mead, Westfield and Preston Academies have organised the next Zero Project under 18’s event at Club Neo, Stars Lane, Yeovil on Wednesday 24 July from 7pm – 11pm. The event will be themed around the USA including a Bucking Bronco and donuts. Asda in Yeovil have kindly donated 400 donuts to the Young Promoters for this event. HAIR STUDENTS END YEAR IN STYLE!
Yeovil College’s Hairdressing students celebrated their outstanding creative skills at a sell-out catwalk show held at the Octagon Theatre, Yeovil. The event showcased the students’ work developing themes which demonstrated their hair styling talents alongside make up and costume designed to complete the required look. The hair show featured approximately 130 models styled by students on Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Full-time courses and Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships, as well as local school pupils who are completing qualifications at the College alongside their GCSEs programmes.
