‘GIRLS GO GREEN’ AT BSG’

Bruton School for GirlsGirls from Bruton School for Girls are taking part in a range of activities and events for ‘Girls Go Green’ week, starting Monday 23rd September. The school utilises its rural environment by bringing learning outside the classroom to life with its very own wildlife nature reserve and Eco-Squad which comprises of girls who are keen to champion the cause.   The school is one of only 27 schools in the country, and the only one in the South West to hold the Eco Schools Ambassador Award, demonstrating green issues and sustainability embedded into the ethos of the school. Brand new martial arts class gets off the ground in Martock

New Facility is Pitch Perfect for South Somerset

Hockey lo res2Balls will be fizzing along the new surface when the highly anticipated Artificial Grass Pitch at Yeovil Recreation Centre officially opens on Saturday 21 September. Everyone is invited to celebrate the occasion and there will be the opportunity to take part in ‘taster sessions’ including Rush Hockey and Junior Hockey before the ribbon is cut at 10.30am. The opening is the culmination of the £817,000 project which has been led by South Somerset District Council. A successful funding application to England Hockey Board alongside developer funding from Barratt Homes and capital funding from SSDC have all made the project possible. Full Story: Read More
